Copeland Cup & Saucer

This is a rare demitasse cup and saucer made by Copeland in the mid to late 19th century. A new favorite of mine :) It is superbly handpainted with panels of yellow ground and raised gilding with two superbly painted panels of flowers in their natural surrounding painted by the famous Charles Ferdinand Hürten who wokred at Copeland Spode from 1860 to the late 1880's. Hurten was a german artist that did some of the most amazing floral paintings on porcelain ever. He did so on a lot of different pieces from giant exhibition pieces to eggshell porcelain like the cup I have here. The painting is just incredible. Great shape as well with the corners indented and a gold scale design to the center of the saucer and bottom of the cup. One panel on each piece is signed CFH as shown. The set displays perfectly but upon extremely close examination you can find a tight hairline to a corner of the cup though you need to look very hard and can only see it on the inside. Both pieces are both marked with the greenish blue fancy monogram mark with Copeland udnerneath used from 1851 until 1885. The cup is 2.125 inches tall and 2.125 wide. The saucer is 0.75 inches tall and 4.25 inches wide. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
