Copeland Birbeck Signed Plate

This is a really nice octagonal plate made by Copeland Spode in the mid to late 19th century. It is superbly hand painted with a nice landscape scene covering the entire center including mountains, trees, buildings, a bridge and some people. It was painted by William Birbeck who was a contemporary of the mroe famous CF Huerten. He was just as talented I think but did mainly landscape scenes instead of flowers. The rim has a nice pink ground color to it with gold trim around the edge of the well and a gilded wavy edge of the plate. The scene is signed W. Birbeck in the bottom right corner. The plate is in decent condition with a stain to the pink ground on the left side as shown and a hairline crack from the top left corner area about 1.75 inches inward. Crazing throughout and a flat chip to the udnerside of one of the wavy edge pieces. It displays nicely and is worthy of having but it's a bummer not being in better condition. It is marked with the greenish blue fancy monogram mark with Copeland underneath used from 1851 until 1885 as well as some impressed marks - A over 79, a letter S and COPELAND. In red letters the name of the scene on the front - Cintra. Contra is a town in Portugal with those amazing Mountains! The piece is 0.75 inches tall and 8.75 inches in diameter at the widest point.
