Coalport Superb Figural Inkwell

This is an amazing figural inkwell made by Coalport around 1815. These top end pieces are very hard to find especially in this sort of condition and decoration. The inkwell has a cherub in unglazed porcelain sitting on some rock highlighted with gilding. The unglazed pieces show off the detail of the molding so much better and in combination of the matte blue color and gold trim of the base look stunning. The inkwell part is in the shape of a seashell with nice detail to it, some gold highlights and some really nicely hand painted flowers. It sits on a little base of seashells, flowers and fruit highlighted with gilding. It's a superb piece that looks amazing. The ink part is made of glass and a later addittion but it works well. The piece is in amazing condition with just a small firing crack to the front of the inkwell shell edge as shown from when it was made. A bit of stainign on the inside of the ink holder part. So it is in oretty much the same condition as when it was made 200 years ago. The piece is 6 inches tall, 6 inches wide and 3.25 inches deep. Not marked but that is pretty normal! Their early pieces were rarely marked. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
