Coalport Fruit Cooler #1

This is an amazing fruit cooler / ice pail made by Coalport around 1810. These pieces are very hard to find especially in this sort of condition and decoration. It comes in 4 pieces which is fancier than any other ones I ahve ever come across. The main body, the insert, a lid to put ice into and a cover to top the lid which is just fun. The pieces are hand painted with some amazing flowers as well as lots of gilding with handles to either side of the main body as well as the lid and a nice finial to the lid all fully gilded. My favorite flower by far would have to be the sun flower. Just stunning. I could not find another piece that well painted by them and they might have been painted by one of the famous painters of the period like Thomas Baxter , William Billingsley or even Thomas Pardoe ! Amazingly this piece is in perfect condition with almost no wear , just a few minor firing flaws like a random black spot and firing crack where the handle meets the body. Normal flaws and not real damage and completely normal on these early wares. The entire setup is about 14 inches tall, with a diameter of about 8 inches and the handles tick out a bit from there. Not marked except for an incised number 2 (possibly) but that is pretty normal! Their early pieces were rarely marked. I also own a matching second piece if anyone is interested in a pair but it has some minor damage. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
