Closter Veilsdorf Cherub Scene Saucer

This is a rare porcelain saucer made by Kloster Veilsdorf of Germany in about 1767. Kloster Veilsdorf was the most important Thuringian factory of the 18th century. It was founded in 1760 by Prince von Hildburghausen with the help of the arcanist Meyer. In 1795 the factory went to the Duke of Sachsen Altenburg who sold it to the Greiner family who owned most of the other makers in this region by then. The saucer is hand painted with nice cherub / putti scene in the center with four flower garlands jutting out from there towards the rim. Two of them in in puce bows. A bit of gold trim to the edge. These pieces are really hard to find but maybe someone has a cup without its saucer so here is the chance to combine them again. It is marked underneath with a blue CV mark that looks a lot like the early Frankenthal standing lion mark. The saucer is in perfect condition! It is 1.375 inches tall and 5.5 inches in diameter. Please email me for more information or photos.

Price is $699
