Chodau Jenny Lind Bust

This is a nice little bust made by Chodau ( Chodov ) around the mid 19th century. These are more famous as having been made by the Royal Vienna factory that made about 200 of these of famous people. Vienna made artists like Shakespeare , rulers like the Kaisers and lots of others but I have not seen one by this maker before! She is Jenny Lind aka Johanna Maria Lind who was a Swedish opera singer. Often called the "Swedish Nightingale" she was highly regarded in the 19th century. She even toured the US around the mid 19th century. Chodau was was founded in 1811 by Franz Miessl in Dolní Chodov which is now part of the Czech Republic but was part of the Austrian Empire back then. The bust is nicely modeled in unglazed biscuit porcelain and has her head and part of her top wearing a nice lace shirt. Her name is written in gold in the front. The bust has a glazed base to it with some gold trim. It's a nice looking piece and not one I can find anywhere else so definitely rare. The figurine is in superb condition! Marked underneath with the impressed Chodau mark as well as an impressed number 1 I believe as shown. The figure is 4.625 inches tall, 2.375 inches wide and 2.25 inches deep.
