Grisaille Juno Teapot

This is a great teapot made in China around the mid 18th century during the Qing Dynasty . It is hand painted with what is called en grisaille European inspired scenes which are mostly in black tones with some gold highlights. This piece has Juno with her peacock sitting on a cloud on either side of the pot. Juno was the Roman goddess of marriage and childbirth as well as the Queen of the gods. The rim design is especially nice on this piece. The tea pot is in great condition with some minor chips to the spout tip as shown and to the lid edge which don't show much at all when the lid is in place. Displays superbly! The lid colors are slightly lighter since it would have been touched a lot more. The pot is unmarked which is normal. It is 5 inches tall, 7.5 inches from handle to spout and 4.25 inches wide.
