European Scene Plate

This is a really nice Chinese Export plate made in China around in the 18th century during the Qianlong period.. It is hand painted with what is called en grisaille European inspired scene which means the scene is mostly in black tones with some flesh colors to make the figures stick out more. The rim has a red outlines and gild filled trim to it quite typical of these pieces and a gold trim around the well lines with thin black lines. I could not find this exact scene anywhere but there are a number of similar ones from this period. The scene includes a warrior holding a spear that has his hands on the breast of the nude lady in front of him with a cherub by their side. Some clouds behind them and a landscape surrounding including some flowers and a bush of some sort. It's a really nice piece and not easy to find these days! As an added bonus the plate is in superb condition. No chips, restorations, etc. As nice as they come. The plate is unmarked which is normal. It is 1.375 inches tall and 9 inches in diameter. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $1499
