17th Century Blanc de Chine Teabowl

This is a Kangxi Blanc de Chine porcelain cup from the Vung Tau Cargo c.1690-1700. The piece is from Dehua in Fujian Province of China . A simple teabowl shape that is a ncie learning example and older than any of my other pieces. The cup is in great condition with some bumps to it from when it was made - little extra blobs of porcelain and a little firing spot on the edge. One spot on the inside looks to have been ground a bit to hide a flaw. The glaze is not as shiny and smooth as it would have been originally due to the prolonged immersion in salt water. The base has a Christie's label to it I believe came from Amsterdam in the early 1990s. The cup is 1.5 inches tall and 3 inches in diameter. It is unmarked which is the norm! You can read about the Vung Tau ship wreck online as it is quite interesting. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $229
