Bristol Cup & Saucer

This is a rare coffee cup and saucer made by Bristol in about 1772. W. Cookworthy founded Plymouth around 1768 but soon after moved the factory to Bristol (around 1770) where he continued to make hard paste porcelain with the help of Richard Champion. Champion bought the factory from him around 1773. He sold the factory in 1781 after which it was closed. This cup and saucer are handpainted with a nice large floral arrangement as well as some smaller ones and just a few green sprigs. The rim has a nice gold trim (the cup has the same trim as the saucer just on the top inside!) as does the handle. Both pieces are in superb condition. They are both marked with the greyish blue cross mark which is not found often. The cup is 2.75 inches tall and between 2.375 and 2.5 inches in diameter (a bit oval from firing!). The saucer is 1 inch tall and 4.875 inches in diameter. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
