Bourg La Reine Saucer

This is a superb saucer made by Bourg la Reine in the 18th century. It was started by Chalres Symphorien Jacques and Joseph Jullien around 1773 and is considered the continuation of the Mennecy factory which is why the two are very similar especially early on. It colsed its doors around 1805. The saucer is made of soft paste porcelain and thus has a creamy warm white color and the enamel colors of the flowers look quite different from the usual hard paste one sees much more often by other makers. Just superb. The piece is hand painted with three polychrome floral arrangements and a puce trim to the edge. The piece is marked with the incised letters BR mark as shown. Not a maker one sees very often and it's nice to ahve an example in my collection. The saucer is in great condition with some very minor wear and some tiny firing imperfection all common to early soft paste porcelain. It displays perfectly and is a great example. The piece is 1.25 inches tall and 4.625 inches in diameter. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
