Bourg La Reine Figurine

This is a figurine made by Bourg la Reine in the 18th century . The factory was started by Charles Symphorien Jacques and Joseph Jullien around 1773 and is considered the continuation of the Mennecy factory which is why the two are very similar especially early on. It closed its doors around 1805. This is my first marked figure by them so it was a must have even if it's not in the best condition. A nice example to have in the collection nonetheless. The figurine is made of unglazed soft paste porcelain also known as biscuit porcelain meant to imitate marble which wa very popular around that time. She is nicely modeled with lots of detail. The necklace around her neck and bows to the end of her sleeves seem to be a key to identifying their wares from Mennecy examples. She displays nicely but like I said she is not in great shape - might be worth a restoration though. Her right hand is missing as is what I think was a tray held between her hands and she was broken through the waist as shown. A stain to her neck area. The figurine is 4.875 inches tall, 2 inches wide and 1.55 inches deep. Marked with their impressed BR mark as shown. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $149
