Bloor Period Shepherdess Figurine

This is a figurine of a lady made by Derby during the Bloor period of the early 19th century. A really nice and early example with a lot of detail. The lady is very well modeled and quite beautifully painted especially her dress! The detail and amount of flowers is truly superb. She has a basket on her left arm filled with superb flowers and more in the apron she is holding up with her right hand. The figure is standing on a nice base more reminiscent of 18th century Derby than most of the Bloor period pieces. More flowers and leaves to the base. The figurine is in amazing condition considering her age and the fragile nature of the decoration. The only damage to her are three chipped fingers on her left hand. Off course there is some damage to flower petals, etc. but it is much less than one would expect. Maybe a handful of flowers have a little damage. The leaves under the basket and beside her on the base have more damage to them but it is not distracting at all. A truly stunning and cheery figurine. The figurine is marked underneath with an incised number 1056 as well as a blue crossed swords mark often found on early Bloor period figurines and meant to imitate Meissen. I also have her mate on the site if anyone would like the pair. The figurine is 9.5 inches tall, 4.25 inches wide and 3.625 inches deep. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
