Large Scenic Enamel Box

This is a really superb large box made in England,- probably in the Birmingham or London area or maybe the Bilston area of South Staffordshire region in the 18th century. They are all famous for their Battersea enamel boxes, etc. This is the one of the nicest and largest ones I have ever come across. The piece has gilded copper mounts and is hand painted with a large scene on top of aristocrats sitting around a table with another one pulling up a chair. The bottom part of the box has lots of hand painted floral arrangements all around and a very nice large single tulip to the underside. The inside is blank. The scene to the top is superb as are the flowers! The box is in great condition with a few hairlines to the enamel and two or three small spots of missing enamel. The gilding of the mounts is worn in places. The lid closes nicely and stays shut. All in all an amazing example! The box is 2 inches tall, 6.375 inches wide and 2.375 inches deep. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
