Bayeux Pair of Nice Vases

This is a great pair of vases made by Bayeux in France during the Gosse period of the mid 19th century. Each has a nice shape to it with a corral look handle to each side and lots of relief designs like leaves highlighted with gilding. The top edge has a bit of blue ground color to it as does the foot of the vases. Each has a cartouche to the front and back including a stylized plant with some nice blossoms with a blossom above the cartouche as well as below. There is a little blue ground rectangular area to the neck of each vase with psydo Chinese characters to it with more to the sides of the base. Each side of the vases has a stylized butterfly design to it which is quite typical of this maker! . These are really nice examples for this maker and is is unusual to find such a nice pair! The pair is in great condition with a tiny bit of wear to the gilding, two small chips to the top edge of one vase though on seems to be from when it was made as it is gilded over. A little chipping to the green paint around the chop marks cartouche along the neck areas but all in all they are in superb condition and display perfectly. Inside rim is unglazed as shown. Neither piece is marked but the style is quite easily identifiable and they were definitely made by Bayeux during this period! Each vase is about 11.25 inches tall, about 5.375 inches wide and 4.25 inches deep. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
