Batenin Cup & Saucer #1

This is a very rare porcelain cup and saucer made by the Batenin factory in St. Petersburg Russia in the early 19th century. The Batenin factory was founded by Sergej Batenin in 1812. I am unsure until when but it doesn't look like it lasted past the mid 19th century. The pieces look extremely similar to Paris region pieces and are more often than not unmarked but this piece here has their mark on the saucer. If it were not for the mark I would ahve not guessed it as having been made by them but the shape and decoration style fits them as well. The cup has a really nice shape to it with a relief face to the center of the handle and a really fancy gold design on top of a deep cobalt blue ground color. The saucer is decorated the same way and matched the bottom half of the cup in terms of design. The inside of the cup is fully gilded as well. The Batenin factory was known for their richly gilded pieces! It's an extremely rare piece to find though I am not sure they made that few pieces instead they rarely marked them and thus they are probably mistaken for French pieces 99% of the time. The cup is 3.25 inches tall (the handle top stick up another 0.875 inches) with a diameter of 2.75 inches. The saucer is 0.875 inches tall and has a diameter of 4.875 inches. Both pieces are in great condition with some wear to the gilding. The worst is around the center well of the saucer and the bottom edge and very bottom inside of the cup. They display very nicely! The cup is unmarked but the saucer has their rare cyrillic letter B in under glaze blue as shown on the underside. I also have another matching st if anyone is interested in a super rare pair.
