Original Art Deco Tilli Losch Figurine

This is a rare and superb figurine in the Art Deco style designed by Mathilde Jaksch around 1930 and made by Augarten during the original period in about 1930. It is of the dancer Tilly Losch being pictured as “Phantom” in the ballet “Das lockende Phantom” (The tempting Phantom) by Franz Salmhofer (1900 – 1975), created in 1927. She is one of the best pieces they made during this period and quite famous! An amazingly modeled piece and handpainted to perfection. The figure is in superb condition with just the very tip of one of the tips of her headdress having a small chip - you can see it in the picture if you really look to the left of the green line. Quite a tiny flaw but it is there. And I recently discovered that her shoe that is sticking out has had a small flaw restored to the side - the tip is fine so not sure what happened there. Amazingly the rest of the detail is all intact! The piece is 7.875 inches tall, 2.875 inches wide and 2.5 inches deep. Marked underneath with the blue shield with the crown on top as well as the word Wien underneath, Augarten Austria in a red rectangle and the impressed number 1607 and letter A. The base has the words Tillie Losch and Phantom on the outside edge. Please email me for more information or photos.

Price is $1249
