Small Greyhound Dog Figurine

This is a figurine of a Greyhound or Whippet made by Augarten in the mid 20th century. It's the smallest version of this figurine which is really hard to find! This is probably the most popular of their dogs and one of the hardest to find especially this painted version. The dog figure is superbly modeled and painted just enough to look real. You can even see its ribs a tiny bit and all the muscles. The figurine is 3.25 inches tall, 1.875 inches wide and 7.25 inches long. The figure is in perfect condition which is often not the case because of the stretched out front legs! It is marked underneath with the impressed shield with the crown on top as well as the word Wien underneath, impressed number 1714/I, impressed Made in Austria, impressed letter K and a painter's number 223 in black.
