Figural Wall Pocket

This is a figural wall pocket / holy water container made by Augarten during the mid 20th century. Not a model I have come across often at all! It is of Veronica holding the sweat cloth in front of her which forms the vase part of the figurine. Another version I had seen has the head of Jesus with the crown of thorns on the front of this cloth part but it does not exist here. The lady is very well modeled with a pink dress and white cloth. A nice piece originally made in the mid 18th century by the Royal Vienna factory and redone by Augarten when they first opened. The figure is 8 inches tall, about 2.75 inches deep and about 7.25 inches wide. Marked underneath with the blue shield with the crown on top as well as the word Wien underneath, Made in Austria impressed as well as impressed are the number 1005 (very faint) and letter R and the pink painter's number 82 as shown plus Made in Austria impressed. Two holes in the back for hanging on the wall with a wire coming out that also can be used for hanging purposes. The piece is in perfect condition. There is a small firing imperfection to the underside of the vase part as shown. Please email me for more information or photos.

Price is $449
