Child Bust

This is a bust of a child made by Augarten during the mid 20th century. This piece was designed by Ida Schwetz-Lehmann who also designed a few other pieces including the Madonna bust one sees much more often. The figure is nicely modeled and left in the white to show off the porcelain itself. The figurine is 7.25 inches tall, about 4 inches deep and 6 inches wide. Marked underneath with the blue shield with the crown on top as well as the word Wien underneath, impressed is the number 1751 as well as the letter S. The artist name is incised underneath one of the shoulders only visible when turned over. She is in perfect condition but classified as a second choice with two lines under the mark becuase of a flaw on top of her head where some kind of impurity in the porcelain burned away during the firing process to leave a little void as shown.
