Arkadia Adam & Eve Teapot

This is a small teapot from the Arkadia series made by KPM in the mid 20th century right after WWII. Meant for a tete a tet type service so it is for two people in terms of size. The pot has the typical shape for the Arkadia series with a flat top with an oval lid and the really nice medallion on the one side with Adam and Eve under a sun with an eye in the center and a snake around their necks with an apple in its mouth. The mdeallion is unglazed porcelain while the rest of the tea pot is glazed. The other side has the saying in relief stating "O ADAME O EVE VITA SOMNIUM BREVE" meaning Adam & Eve Life is bit a short dream. This is the version with the gold trim which I think is much nicer than the plain white one. A really nice looking piece! The pot is in perfect condition with the lid missing its small pin on the underside to hold it in place while pouring. Not the end of the world as one can jsut hold it in place like on so many teapots with ones other hand :) The tea pot is marked underneath with the under glaze blue scepter with the S under it for the Selb location as well as the green orb for the gilding work, the usual other marks from this period as shown and Made in Germany US zone as shown. This was only used for a short time after the war. The pot is 4.5 inches tall, 7.75 inches from handle to spout tip and 4.125 inches in deep. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $249
