Ansbach Small Pot

This is a small lidded teapot or large creamer made by Ansbach in the 18th century around 1770. They started making porcelain around 1758 and flourished from 1758 through 1777. Ansbach closed somewhere around 1860 but was already in private hands since 1807. The pot is marked with the underglaze blue A mark underneath and maybe a brown 3. but it might just a dirt mark that happened during the firing. The pot is nicely handpainted with a larger flower arrangement in the front a smaller one in the back and two single flowers as well. The lid has three tiny flowers painted on it. The nicest thing about this pot is the figural spout shaped like the head of a pug dog, the superbly molded handle and basketweave trim. The finial is very nice as well being a single flowers with three leaves. The pot including lid is 4.75 inches tall and 3 inches in diameter. The side handle sticks out 1.375 inches and the spout about one inch. The piece is in great condition with a teeny firing flaw or chip to the underside of the spout, a firing crack to the inside bottom of the pot which does not go through, a small chip to the footring and the stem of the flower on the finial is missing. Nothing that matters much on a superb and rare piece like this. Please email me for more information or photos.
