Ansbach Bird Cup & Saucer

This is a cup and saucer set made by Ansbach in about 1775. They started making porcelain around 1758 and the factory flourished from 1758 through 1777. It closed somewhere around 1860. The set is marked with the underglaze blue A mark underneath. The cup has a 2 impressed on the footring and the saucer has an incised mark I cannot quite make out. Both pieces are superbly handpainted with a scene with chicken in a landscape backdrop and the cup also has two other birds on the side. Gold trim to rims and handle. The cup is 1.875 inches tall and 3 inches in diameter. The saucer is 1.125 inches tall and 5.125 inches in diameter. The set is in great condition with a chip to the footring of the cup and a hairline to the bottom of the handle with a teeny chip on it. Handle is perfectly stable!
