Althaldensleben Cup & Saucer

This is a cup and saucer set made by Althaldensleben. Althaldensleben was started by Gottlob Nathusius in about 1814 as an earthenware factory but soon (about 1826) converted to porcelain making. He died in 1836 but the factory continued until 1860. It is rare to find pieces by this maker as they only made porcelain for ten years. This cup and saucer date to about 1836. The set is marked with the underglaze blue line mark underneath. The saucer has D32 impressed near the footring. The cup is handpainted with a scene of three dogs in a landscape background and has a nice gold trim all around. The saucer is decorated with gold trim and a saying in the center - to remember 1836. The cup is 2.375 inches tall and 2.5 inches in diameter. The saucer is a bit over 1.125 inches tall and 5 inches in diameter. The set is in great condition with some wear to the gilding. Some small spots in the scene seem to be painted over to hide enamel that flaked off. These are small spots. Please email me for more information or photos.
